Australia’s first openly gay Big Brother housemate, “farmer” Dave Graham, is to tie the knot after becoming engaged to his partner of just over a year.
Sydney-based Graham and his business-owner boyfriend Michael Cauchi plan to wed in New York, where gay marriage has just been legalised.
Friends of the celebrity farmer said he and Cauchi, 31, became engaged last week after a whirlwind courtship.
“It’s fast but they’re totally in love and both really committed,” a pal of the pair said.
Graham, currently overseas on business, didn’t return calls yesterday but alluded to his engagement on Facebook.
“So happy with this new chapter unfolding,” he posted. This is not Graham’s first flirtation with marriage – the former sheep farmer turned dog trainer famously announced he planned to marry ex-boyfriend Sherif Itawanak in a civil ceremony after leaving the Channel 10 series in 2006.
