Gillard stops Aussies from marrying in New York

From NOVA FM this morning:

The Gillard Government is blocking the marriages of gay Australians in New York. Read on for a media release from the Australian Marriage Equality association.

Despite this move by the Goverment, Merrick and Dools are currently sending a Same Sex Couple from Sydney to get married as a part of their ‘Same Sex and the City’ initiative.

When New York state’s new equal marriage law takes effect on July 27th same-sex couples from other countries will be able to marry there if they provide a Certificate of Non-Impediment to Marriage (CNI) to show they are not already married in their home country.
