This couple met and fell in love like any average people – they married eight years ago and have raised six children together in their Glenmore Park home. But Deb Saywell and Sue Rochford’s marriage isn’t recognised because they are a same-sex couple.
Same-sex marriage is currently on the Federal Parliament agenda, with local MPs surveying their electorates to find out what people think about same-sex unions.
For both Ms Saywell, 48, and Ms Rochford, 46, it is disappointing that their marriage isn’t recognised in the same way that it would be for a heterosexual couple.
