Gay activists are calling on the Federal Member for Kennedy, Bob Katter, to ackowledge there is a homosexual community in his electorate. More than 70 protesters gathered outside Mr Katter’s Mount Isa office in remote north-west Queensland at the weekend, in response to his comment that he’d ‘walk backwards to Bourke’ if there was a large gay community in his electorate.
However, many other locals have indicated they’re reluctant to back concepts such as gay marriage.
