Australian Marriage Equality (AME) and Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) have welcomed today’s announcement from Sydney Mardi Gras about their renewed focus on diversity, inclusion, and equality as well as their new logo.
Alex Greenwich, National Convener of AME, said:
“Sydney Mardi Gras 2012 will provide a unique stage for us to broadcast the importance of marriage equality to Australia and indeed the world”
“Inclusion and equality central to the campaign for same-sex marriage, Sydney Mardi Gras’s dedication to these principles will help make reform happen”.
“We look forward to welcoming a diversity of supporters, whether GLBTIQ or straight, on our float at next year’s parade and at events throughout the festival”.
Shelley Argent, National Spokesperson for PFLAG, said:
“There are many straight parents, who like me, enjoy being a part of the festival and parade. The renewed focus on inclusion will help me encourage more parents to play a part in the parade”.
