Dr Dane is the Co Chair and Research Director of Australian Marriage Equality, Australia’s most established lobby group for marriage equality.
She conducts research through the University of Queensland on same sex relationships and the right of sexual minorities to marry.
In 2012 Dr Dane and her wife had the opportunity of dining with the Prime Minister Julia Gillard to discuss the recent research and their personal journey.
Sharon will discuss what we know about attitudes towards marriage equality in Australia, current strategies to achieve marriage equality and her personal experience of having to travel all the way to Canada in order to marry her partner of 11 years. The talk will be followed by a question and answer time.
