The next US Edition of TIME Magazine, scheduled for release on April 8, will feature two alternate covers of same sex couples kissing.
The title of the cover is emblazoned with “Gay Marriage Already Won” followed by “the Supreme Court hasn’t made up it’s mind but America has”.
It is a significant acknowledgement of the overwhelming and undeniable movement in support of GLBTI Americans. This support follows the two Supreme Court hearings into marriage equality issues that took place this week. Many prominent Americans came out in support of equality while Twitter and Facebook were engulfed in a sea of red icons and pictures as millions of GLBTI allies showed their worldwide support for the cause.
TIME Magazine’s confident assertion is the clearest indication yet that, while we await the US Supreme Court’s determinations, the US is poised to move forward to acknowledge that the depth of love and commitment that all American couples share, regardless of their orientation should be symbolised by marriage.
