Australian Marriage Equality (AME) has offered its sorrow and solidarity with those murdered and injured, their families and all LGBTI people following the homophobic terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida.
“The death of so many people in this homophobic terrorist attack has shaken all decent people to their core”, Australian Marriage Equality National Spokesperson, Shirleene Robinson said.
“It is hard to put into words how sad and devastating this incident is for the victims, their families, LGBTI people and all decent people across the world.
“No human being including the perpetrator of these brutal murders was born with these attitudes, they were taught them.
‘”This is a time for mourning and solidarity”, Ms Robinson added.
“This is homophobia in its most extreme form and this hatred reminds us in the most horrific of ways of the need to remove homophobia from our hearts and our minds,” Ms Robinson concluded.
