BARRY O’FARRELL has called for a parliamentary inquiry to examine the feasibility of introducing same-sex marriage at a state level.
The request follows a cross-party group of MPs, who support gay marriage, giving formal notice of a bill they intend to introduce next year to allow gay and lesbian couples in NSW to marry.
The Premier agreed there were issues with such a proposition, such as the constitutionality of the idea, that should be considered, said the government’s leader in the upper house, Mike Gallacher.
