Marriage equality advocates have welcomed the leadership that key Coalition MPs have shown on marriage equality and called for all supporters to work together to achieve a reform that is now easily in the grasp of this parliament.
Rodney Croome, Australian Marriage Equality National Director said,
“A growing cohort of Coalition MPs are backing this historic reform and the numbers continue to inch closer to a victory for marriage equality in our federal parliament.”
“Greg Hunt is now one of the most senior supporter of marriage equality in the Coalition and we pay tribute to his thoughtful and caring approach to this issue.”
“We also applaude Mal Brough, Ewen Jones and National MP Darren Chester for their principled stand in support for marriage equality.”
“For marriage equality to happen we need all supporters to work together toward a non-partisan path to reform, which we strongly feel can be achieved this year.”
