Australian Marriage Equality has condemned an attack on the Toowoomba medical practice of marriage equality opponent, Dr David van Gend, and called for calm on both sides of the debate.
AME national director, Rodney Croome, said,
“We unequivocally condemn all personal attacks and destruction of property. Such abuse has no place in the marriage equality debate.”
“But I also ask Dr van Gend not to jump to conclusions about the perpetrator, as this only inflames the situation.”
“We call on people on both sides of the marriage equality debate to show respect for the views of others and maturity in how they make their case.”
