Twenty nine businesses in Sharman Stone’s electorate of Murray have backed marriage equality in an ad in today’s Shepparton Advisor (see list of businesses below).
Ad organiser, Damien Stevens, said,
“It is heartwarming to see so many Greater Shepparton businesses and community organisations highlighting their support for marriage equality.”
“In regional areas, people of diverse sexuality and gender (especially young people) often experience higher levels of discrimination, isolation and social exclusion.”
“By adding their logos to the full page advertisement that appears in today’s edition of the ‘The Adviser’, businesses and organisations are proudly showing their support to couples who wish to marry and their families and friends.”
Australian Marriage Equality national director, Rodney Croome, said the Murray ad is part of a broader campaign that has seen hundreds of local businesses declare their support for marriage equality across regional Australia.
“The aim of the campaign is to show Liberal MPs that marriage equality has support across the community, including from the business sector which some Liberals see as their natural constituency.”
A list of businesses is included below. A copy of the ad is attached.
