Collin and I have been together for 23 years, and have lived in Australia since 1995. We were married in South Africa, our country of birth in 2010. This photo is of us on our wedding day. We had a very emotional ceremony in front of 4 dear friends. Jan the magistrate travelled 400km to marry us in a game park in South Africa. I never thought that getting married would be such a big deal after having been together for 19 years at that time. We arranged to recite a poem that Collin had written to me a few weeks after we met as part of our vows. I dissolved into tears, at which stage everyone joined me.
I never thought I would see the day when I could finally get married to the man I love.
It truly was a moment in time – one that we will treasure forever.
