This photo was taken just a few months ago at Thingvellir national park just outside of Reykjavik, Iceland. It was important for us as it coincided with our first anniversary since getting married there the year before. It is such a great experience to feel part of the community in a country where social and human rights are important and there is so much more which can be gained from an inclusive and open minded society which is what our experience was in Iceland. We were constantly met with expressions of disbelief at some of the things we mentioned that were happening back home in Australia with regards to equal rights and marriage equality. It was enlightening to meet people living in a country which had adopted marriage equality through parliament with zero votes on the negative side of the motion! To them, everybody is equal and able to contribute to the community and Wayne & I are not just committed to each other but also to further informing people and seeing marriage equality come to fruition here in Australia too!
